The Southern Ocean 32s were designed and built by David Gough for Port Phillip conditions. They have a good turn of speed combined with a practical, usable interior suitable for weekends away. Competitive, safe and fun to sail, some 25 Southern Ocean 32s were built and they are still a great choice as a low-cost club racer. They are particularly competitive under the AMS rating system with a low .803 TCF.

This Southern Ocean 32 has been upgraded with a Don Jones ( of Skandia Wild Thing, Cadibarras etc fame) designed rudder and a slightly deeper modern fin and bulb keel providing additional stability but with 600 Kgs less overall displacement. Her clever design provides a very roomy, deep and safe cockpit with the tiller over the aft deck so it doesnt take up cockpit space. And under that aft deck is a surprisingly roomy private double berth cabin with separate hatchway access, unique in yachts of this size.

Well looked after by her current owners, she has a great wardrobe of sails including some recent Doyles to continue her recent successful racing history. Her 10hp 2 cylinder Volvo Penta saildrive diesel engine pushes her along nicely when needed. She has Raymarine electronics, was fully rewired and fitted with new batteries in 2015 and her stainless steel wire standing rigging was also renewed at that time.

An excellent performer and an affordable choice for the coming season.
