Australia’s Seawind Catamarans have announced the development of a new 41ft Seawind 1250 catamaran, and has released plans and images of the new bluewater cruiser for the first time.

The company said that following the success and world acclaim of the 38ft Seawind 1160, the all-new 1250 bluewater cruising catamaran is currently being developed at the builder’s newly constructed 30,000ft² state-of-the-art facility at Wollongong.

"Though the new 41ft Seawind 1250 will include many of the award-winning design features of the Seawind 1160, this model is an entirely new design being longer, higher (including bridgedeck clearance) and beamier than it’s 38ft predecessor with dozens of new innovative and exciting features," said Seawind.

The new design, it said, will also feature several new layouts including a Galley Up version, or the Galley Down variant where a nav station and luxurious daybed are incorporated into the saloon.

Seawind said four 1250s have now been sold, including one from the 2009 Sydney International Boat Show.

Brand-new tooling has been in development for several months for the new model, said Seawind, and the first 1250 is already in construction and due for completion in October this year.

The official water launch and christening will be conducted at the Seawind Pittwater Regatta on Friday, October 30.

Seawind said an inspection of the manufacturing site and of the 1250 currently being built is available upon request.
