NEW PRODUCTS: OptiMax 150 ProXS
More speed, less fuel
Mercury has added an all-new OptiMax 150 ProXS to its line-up of performance direct-injected outboards, claiming faster top speeds without extra fuel burn.
In tests conducted by the manufacturer, the new 150 was almost 8kmh (4.3kts) faster at top speed compared to rival companys’ high-output 150 equivalents.
In comparison to the standard 150 OptiMax, Mercury said the VELS 3-Star rated 150 ProXS delivers another 4kmh (2.16kts) at top speed, as well as producing the "blistering holeshot" associated with all OptiMax engines.
Mercury said the improved performance does not burn more fuel and that the 150 ProXS boasts better fuel economy than the competition throughout the power band, especially at cruise speed.
At 195kg, Mercury said the 150 ProXS is a lightweight with its 2.5lt V6 engine-design delivering outstanding power-to-weight ratio and is available in both 20in and 25in shaft lengths.
"The 150 ProXS is an outstanding choice for boaties looking to repower and move up from their current 150 to 170hp carburettor or EFI engine," says Mercury. "Not only will the OptiMax 150 ProXS deliver massively improved performance, its mechanical throttle and shift controls means the cost of repowering is kept down."
Mercury said engines used for recreational purposes (Non Racing) are covered by the company’s 3+2=5 Year Warranty, and protected by Mercury’s 3 Year Corrosion Warranty.
