A range of Mercury Marine V8 engines will be standard on all new Bavaria sportscruisers following an agreement between the two companies.

Bavaria said owners will have the opportunity to order their new boat with MerCruiser petrol motors as standard on all models and exclusively on the brand-new Sport 38 and the recently unveiled Sport 43.

Bavaria-Yachtbau will offer MerCruiser’s 260hp 5.0 MPI, the 320hp 377 MAG and the 430hp 8.2 MAG HO power plants in respective boat models. All engines are available with SmartCraft engine controls and Digital Throttle and Shift (DTS) as standard. A technology, Bavaria says, was pioneered by Mercury in 1999 and which has accumulated more than 10 million hours of operation among end consumers since.

Bavaria said all propulsion systems of its boats are tested extensively and optimised. The engine installation undergoing a rigorous quality inspection to meet the high standards set by the brand. In return, MerCruiser provides Bavaria with an Installation Quality Certification (IQC) entitling every boat owner to an additional year of factory-backed warranty on the engine.

As part of the collaboration, the Mercury Axius Premier joystick docking system will be available for all dual-engine installations. "A proportional joystick provides full control over the vessel and adjusts the boat speed by the amount of pressure you apply," says Bavaria.

Axius Premier also features the integrated SkyHook ‘virtual anchoring’ system and Auto Heading technologies, plus an autopilot function through connection to an approved chartplotter.
