NEW BOATS – the Catana 47 sets sail for Aussie waters

Australian sailing enthusiasts will have their chance to inspect the Catana 47 catamaran at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in late March.

The new, high-performance vessel was designed for extended passages and replaces the Catana 471, weighing almost 700kg lighter than its predecessor now that carbon fibre is used in the main partitions, roof and in some of the structural supports.

The Catana 47 provides exhilarating sailing with the power to maintain high average speeds over long distances. Timed at almost 25kts during its initial trials, the vessel is exceptionally fast, light, robust, and easy to handle.

With generous headroom under the nacelle, the Catana 47 is stable at high speed, and the sails are manageable even for a solo yachtsman travelling in high winds.

The Catana 47 has three cabins and can easily accommodate up to six people on a long voyage. The interior design by Linea Concept exudes a warm and inviting ambience with wengue floors and clear panelling.

All instruments are found in the cockpit, electric winches assist in difficult conditions, and the toerails, lifelines, and handrails allow for unrestricted movement.

The owners of the Catana 47 on display plan to race their new vessel and cruise local waters, before venturing to the Pacific Islands.

The Catana 47 is priced from A$995,000 (sail away), with fully-optioned models available from A$1.2m.
