If you think the lines of the new RP102 motoryacht from Horizon sway to a Euro beat, you’d be right. The Taiwan boatbuilder sought out the services of Dutch designer Cor D. Rover to pen its new Raised Pilothouse concept.

Best known for designing two Magellano trawler yachts for the famed Italian marque Azimut, Rover’s Horizon is being hailed as "innovative" by the Asian yard.

The fluid lines and modern proportions of the RP102 allow for large glass windows and a flow of natural light into the interior spaces in consequence. Horizon says the layout offers a symbiosis of owner, guest and service areas, "creating the feeling of a much larger yacht".

The full-beam master stateroom (complete with en suite) on the forward main deck is provided "magnificent views and wall-to-wall luxury", we’re told.

"Outside, the RP102’s exterior areas are just as impressive and ingenious," said Horizon. Such as Rover’s patented-design Sky Terrace which, at the touch of a button, can increase the flybridge deck area by 20 per cent without compromising the yacht’s flowing design. A beach club (read cockpit) forward of the swimplatform offers ocean views with undercover protection.

Horizon said Computational Fluid Dynamics and scale-model tests were utilised to develop the RP102’s hull form, which it claims uses 25 per cent less fuel at a 20-knot cruise speed over a conventional planing hull.
