RFD Australia says it has launched a full range of quality inflatable boats bearing the internationally recognised Plastimo brand, at the Sydney International Boat Show.

The 20-model Plastimo range covers both conventional inflatable boats and RIBs, ranging in length from a 2.0m tender through to a 3.5m RIB.

RFD said Plastimo is a leading European manufacture of quality marine products and has been producing marine equipment for more than 40 years, including Contest compasses, safety equipment, as well as inflatable boats.

"As the authorised agent for Plastimo in Australia, we are delighted to now include the Plastimo range of inflatables in our RFD line-up," said Mark Barker, managing director of RFD.

"RFD has been involved in the inflatable market with the AquaPro range for many years, so it is a market segment that we know well. We believe that the Plastimo range is perfectly suited to the Australian market, in terms of product suitability, product quality and price," he said.

The Plastimo range includes the Raid Tenders, Fun Series, Yacht Tenders and Charter Series.

"The Raid tender series, available in three models, is a compact, easy-to-stow type of tender, designed to offer maximum comfort while gaining the most of space on board. The Fun Series comprises five models with the hull design featuring a V-style inflatable hull for increased light weight and stability at planing speeds," said the distributor.

The Plastimo Yacht Tender range covers six models ranging in size from 2.4m to 3.5m, and with a V-type rigid hull are said to be suited to faster cruising in safety, while for cruising yachtsmen, they can be mounted on davits via lifting eye bolts being fitted as standard equipment.

According to RFD, the standard Plastimo inflatables are manufactured from Heytex, a multiple layer fabric with superb air retention and excellent resistance to abrasion, UV light and the marine environment.

For use in tropical Australia, Plastimo produce a range of inflatable boats and RIBS under the Charter Series, manufactured in heavy-duty Hypalon material, which is claimed to be ideal for use in the tropics.

RFD said all Plastimo boats are supplied with, paddles, pump, repair kit and a valise as standard.
