Video: Australia's Greatest Trailerboats 2014

The Australia's Greatest Trailerboats 2014 shootout has been run and won. 16 of the best boats were reviewed across three categories. Who was a winner? Keep going to find out.

Take the finest trailerboats available on our shores and add five eager judges. Toss in enough camera lenses to rival the Hubble Space Telescope, and then stir in a chopper piloted by a madman missing his fear gene. Serve over three glorious sun-soaked days and there you have it: Australia’s Greatest Boats 2014 (AGB), a boating cocktail of the most intoxicating kind.

Now in its fourth instalment, Australia's Greatest Boats celebrates the best boats, best marine engines and the most exciting boat equipment and marine gear on the market. In 2014, 16 trailerboats participated in our mega video shootoout, which was held on the Queensland Gold Coast. The contenders inlcuded no less than 5 bowriders and 11 fishing boats — 5 fibreglass and 6 aluminium fishing boats.

We would’ve loved to invite every single boat brand along to the feature event – we begged, but the finance department guardians and OH&S nannies overruled us. So without further ado, here are the main contenders for the title of Australia's Greatest Boats 2014.

Though it's hard to believe, not everyone who loves boats is into fishing. In fact, some of these boats would look completely out of place covered in fish guts and squid ink. Five boats contested this cateogry in its inaugural year: Chaparral H2O 19, Bayliner 175 Flight, Quicksilver 645 Cabin, Crownline  19XS Bowrider, and Regal 2100 Bowrider.
