The Boating Industry Association of Western Australia (BIAWA) earlier this year recognised WA’s top-performing boat importers and builders at the 2010 WA Marine Industry Awards.

This year’s eligible vessels were put through their paces at the Freemantle Sailing Club before a panel of expert judges, with the winners of this year’s boat awards as follows.

WA Boat of the Year — the 10m Naiad (pictured), from Kirby Marine, which also took out the Aluminium over 6m category.

  • WA Boat Builder of the Year — Chivers Marine.
  • Aluminium under 6m — Westerberg Bandit 5.4, by Westerberg Marine.
  • Aluminum under 6m Merit — Reefshark 170CC, by Chivers Marine.
  • Fibreglass over 6m — Abrolhos 8000 Walkaround, by Commodore Marine.
  • Aluminium Custom-built Vessel — Wakemaker PDF, by Wakemaker Marine.
  • Fibreglass Custom-built Vessel — Mako 9000, by Leisurecat Australia; and the GivenPower Cat GT-11, by Seafest Marine.
  • Imported Trailer Boat of the Year — Haines Signature 702L, entered by All Boat Business.
  • Imported Ski Boat of the Year — Malibu Wakesetter VTX, imported by Malibu Boats WA.
