Whether you’re looking for a boat to accommodate relaxing family outings or adrenalin-charged wakeboard weekends, you could do a whole lot worse than the latest generation of US-made Bayliner 215 BR.

Bayliner says this boat combines the best of bowrider and deckboat engineering and technology, with an all-new design that will please mum and the kids just as much as the wakeboard warriors.

With seating for up to nine people, the 215 BR features a stack of storage space. Skis and wakeboards can be hidden away in the large underfloor locker, while you’ll find even more room for odds and ends beneath the bow seat cushions.

With an LOA of 6.22m and a beam of 2.43m, the 215 BR tips the scales at 1300kg (dry), opening up a wide range of tow vehicle options.

The 215 BR’s controls and anti-glare gauges are right where you want them in the ergonomically-designed helm, which also features a sumptuous bucket-style seat with flip-up bolster and protected vinyl upholstery.

Kick-start a party with the top-shelf waterproof stereo system, which Bayliner says is one of the best in the business. Featuring "plug & play" compatibility with iPods and other MP3 players, this system pumps out the tunes through "directionally aimed" speakers, while a new sealed engine cover keeps engine noise to an absolute minimum.

Speaking of powerplants, you won’t be disappointed by the unit charged with rocketing the 215 BR over the water. The standard 5.0lt MerCruiser Alpha I V8 churns out some 220hp, providing good grunt to pull boarders out of the hole and set pulses racing, without burning a hole in your back pocket.

If you have your sights set on a wakeboarding weapon, add Bayliner’s Flight Series option, which for $4000 gets you a wakeboard tower, full-length extended swim platform and unique, sporty graphics. The 215 BR has a fuel capacity of 140lt, which should see your skiing or wakeboarding mates running on empty long before the boat does.

Throw in a maintenance-free interior and a durable fibreglass liner — plus an attractive starting price of $56,990 — and the 215 BR adds up to a great leisure option, no matter how you like your fun on the water.
