High alert in NSW

Warning to boaties

NSW Maritime has called upon boaties to exercise extreme caution when navigating NSW’s coastal waterways, following the recent heavy rains experienced in many parts of the state.

According to a NSW Maritime spokesman, Neil Patchett, the deluge has seen fallen trees and debris washed into many rivers, estuaries and bays, presenting a significantly heightened risk of collision, while in some instances navigational markers have been damaged or even washed away.

Patchett said navigational hazards or damaged markers should be reported to NSW Maritime’s information line — 13 12 56. Visit www.maritime.nsw.gov.au for more information.
