Keen boaters will set a steady course for Port Phillip Bay next February when they raise money for special needs and disadvantaged children in the third annual Variety Splash.

Modelled on the road-based "Variety Bash" fundraiser, the three-day Variety Splash will follow a new course in 2010, from the Docklands to Sandringham, then to Geelong, and finally back to the Docklands.

Variety events manager Janette Connolly said the new route would contain the same level of festivities and fun, with a few new adventurous activities thrown in along the way.

"For the past two years the first stop-over had been held at the Mornington Yacht Club – a great venue that turned on amazing food, plenty of fun and wonderful hospitality," said Connolly.

"With a record number of participants expected in 2010, it appears we’ve sadly out-grown Mornington Yacht Club as an overnight venue and Splashers will spend their first night at the new, state-of-the-art Sandringham Yacht Club.

"We’ll again stay at Royal Geelong Yacht Club on the second night, then back to Melbourne Yacht Club Hotel at Waterfront City for the final night party," she said.

The organisers said that early entries have already been flooding in for the 2010 Variety Splash. Watters Electrical has also pledged its support as a major event partner, raising $33,000 for the Variety Splash at its recent annual Watters Electrical Ball.

The 2010 Variety Splash will be held from February 25-27. Call LeisureCorp on (03) 9642 1227 or visit www.varietysplash.com.au for further information.
