The National 4x4, Off-Road, Fishing and Outdoors Expo will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds from September 4-6, 2009 and the organisers have promised even more for fishos, with additional exhibition space and an enhanced educational program.

Anglers Paul Worsteling and Dave Hosting will share their knowledge with visitors when they host the popular Fishing Stage. The pair, who regularly feature in popular fishing programs like iFish (Worsteling) and River to Reef (Kramer), count more than 50 years of fishing industry experience between.

Mark Petersen from the National 4x4, Off-Road, Fishing and Outdoors Expo said the organisers were catering to all aspects of fishing, accessories and equipment.

"The great thing about this year’s show is that we haven’t tried to focus on just one type of fishing. We have attempted to put something in there for everybody, regardless of whether you enjoy hitting Melbourne’s famous Port Phillip Bay for some snapper or prefer the Victorian high fields for trout," Petersen said.

"With the new venue we will have more boating companies exhibiting at the show, so if you’re in the market for a new boat, the show is going to be the place to go to pick up a new vessel. There will also be some great boating accessories on the display at bargain prices."

Worsteling said he was proud to be part of the show as a presenter and an exhibitor.

"I’m really looking forward to being part of the event as it relocates to a brand new home at the Melbourne Showgrounds," Worsteling said. "This year we have even more planned for this section of the show, with more educational demonstrations, giveaways and information to encourage people to become involved in fishing," he said.

Kramer agrees, saying he too was looking forward to being part of the show. "We’ve got some of Victoria’s best anglers talking about the correct technique to catch snapper," he said. "We have also introduced two new presentations which will focus on the best ways to catch gummy shark and different species of bream."

However, in addition to fishing, the event will also aim to educate anglers about preserving the underwater environment. "The event will also the public with the rare opportunity to view one of the artificial reef balls which will be placed into Port Phillip Bay to help rebuild the area," added Kramer. "We will also show footage from the area so people can see how these balls are helping not only fisherman but also the environment."

The National 4x4, Off-Road, Fishing and Outdoors Expo will be held from September 4-6, 2009 at the Melbourne Showgrounds. Visit www.fishingshow.com.au for more information.
