The Javelin 5.1m centre-console was one of four hot fishing boats to travel to Far North Queensland for the TrailerBoat Torture Test.

Four ripper trailer boats took off from Cooktown in Far North Queensland for the TrailerBoat Torture Test. One of the trailerboat to be tested was a 5.1m Javelin, owned by Stewie Martin from Elite Tackle. This centre-console may have had a bare basics layout but it was built tough as nails.

The Javelin is a true sportfishing weapon. Its centre-console layout, self-draining deck, exceptional ride and detachable T-top combine beautifully for trolling and casting action. Clearly, says Stewie, the Javelin was built for the top end country.

The 5.1m Javelin was fitted with a 70hp Yamaha four-stroke outboard. Four-strokes have traditionally been criticised for their power to weight ratio, as they were traditionally heavy for their power output. However, on the Yamaha 70, the company took a big leap forward with a versatile, but relatively lightweight and powerful engine.

"Obviously my favourite boat would have to be my Javelin, purely because of its versatility," said Stewie. "I’ve taken it to the Shelf and caught big blue marlin, I can take it up the creek and barra fish. It’s really got it all."
